World AIDS Day: HIV/AIDS in YA Literature
Today is World AIDS Day
Since 1988, this day has helped raise awareness of the issues surrounding this pandemic. According to estimates, there are 33.3 million people living with HIV in the world, 2.5 million of those being children. HIV/Aids can affect anyone and is therefore it is everyone’s duty to bring awareness and help find a cure.
Caroline at Portrait of a Woman is hosting a HIV/Aids in YA literature awareness week. Please take the time to visit her blog; you will find a very useful bibliography as well as links to book reviews. If you are interested in the subject, there is also a very interesting article on the BBC News website on how AIDS in literature is helping drop Uganda’s HIV rate.
