Booktime, as you are probably aware, is a programme administered by the fantastic charity Booktrust in partnership with Pearson and the Department for Education. It gives free books to all children when they start reception class. The aim is not only to promote reading for pleasure but also encourage families to spend some quality time reading together.
This autumn, 680,000 copies of Eric Carle’s “Slowly, Slowly, Slowly”, Said the Sloth will be given for free to all children starting reception class in England.
To celebrate, Booktime are offering primary schools and libraries in England the chance to enter a prize draw to receive an exclusive artist’s proof from the book. Each vibrant, colourful spread from the book is signed by Eric Carle.
The Booktime website also has some interactive games and resources related to “Slowly, Slowly, Slowly”, Said the Sloth which are well-worth checking out.
Anyone can nominate a primary school and a public library in England (full terms and conditions are available on the website ). Nominations opend today and will remain open until October 31st.
To nominate, just visit the nominations page on the Booktime site and find your school or library. I am off to do it now!
