Every Christmas Eve, my children get books as their final Advent Calendar goodies; one in English, one in French for each of them. They know they will find the books underneath their pillows. This year, they will get:

Then when it is time for them to go to bed, we will all gather to read The Night Before Christmas. I already talked about Clement C. Moore’s classic poem here but here is the version which has become part of the tradition in the Library Mice household. This edition, beautifully illustrated by Niroot Puttapipat has a real classical feel to it, and feels more like it is contemporary to the poem than first published in 2007. The paper engineering is of superb quality and allows for very clever little details. The pop-up on the last double-page is very impressive, but not to be left unattended in eager little hands!!!

It is a beautiful classic book and sharing it as a family every year has become of on the highlights of our holiday season.

So I bid you

Merry Christmas to all, And to all a good night!
