Here is some information to complement the handful of reviews from this week:

Reflections on Early Readers is a post I wrote last year for the I Can Read festival hosted by Zoe over at Playing By the Book.

* For children still needing quite short reads, you could look at:

Fairy Tale Twists from Orchard are quite fun and easy to read
Rainbow Magic Early Readers , also from Orchard. Whatever we, as parents, think of Rainbow Magic, they do have a huge following and do get girls into reading. The new series includes full colour illustrations inside and retell Rainbow Magic stories  in an abridged form.
In the same way, Orion’s Early Readers offer shorter Horrible Henry stories, again with full colour illustrations.

* Once your young readers have built a little stamina, you MUST introduce them to Alex T Smith’s Claude series. I have reviewed all the three books in the series so far here, here and here. A fourth adventure is due out in January 2013.

* The Federation of Children’s Books produces a booklist every year, and a few years ago, a booklist of early reads, Going Solo, was compiled. It is being updated at the moment and a new print version will be available soon, but if you would like to have a look at the original version in electronic format in the meantime, please let me know and I can email one to you.
