The Puffin Handbook

Posted on May 7, 2010

Puffin is celebrating its 70th Birthday this year and will kick-off celebrations tomorrow with a Puffin Share-a-Story Day tomorrow Saturday 8th May. In honour of this, Puffin has also published a great little guide for parents, The Puffin Handbook.
The guide includes lots of information on books and reading, including tips on choosing books and enjoying books with your children, articles, and  book extracts and reviews. I really like the layout.

Here is a typical page:
For each age-range there is also a “What to read next” section which I find particularly useful:

And finally if you have teens at home or if you work with them (as I do), you’ will know that it sometimes hard to make them believe that they would enjoy the books we are recommending to them, so there are several pages with teenagers recommending books that other teenagers might enjoy:

The handbook is available in bookshops free of charge but if you can’t get your hands on one, it is also available online here.
