There have been so many amazing books published this year, but it would seem unfair to do a “best books of the year” because there are so many I have not read. So I have decided to go for “highlights” instead, books that I read and have particularly loved this year; this is by no means an exhaustive list, but these are some of the titles I would recommend if people asked me: “what good books did you read in 2017?”
– Piglettes by Clémentine Beauvais (Pushkin Children’s Books)
– Illegal by Eoin Colfer, Andrew Donkin and Giovanni Rigano (Hodder Children’s Books)
– Moon by Patricia Hegarty and Britta Teckentrup (Little Tiger Press)
– The Lost Words by Robert MacFarlane and Jackie Morris (Hamish Hamilton)
– Moxie by Jennifer Mathieu (Hodder Children’s Books)
– The Explorer by Katherine Rundell and Hannah Horn (Bloomsbury Children’s Books)
– Town Is by the Sea by Joanne Schwartz and Sydney Smith (Walker Books)
– The Bad Mood and the Stick by Lemony Snicket and Matthew Forsythe (Andersen Press)
– The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas (Walker Books)
– Professional Crocodile by Giovanna Zoboli (Chronicle)
Have a wonderful festive season, I will see you in the New Year!
