The day has come!

You can now sign up your children aged 4 to 11 to join in the Summer Reading Challenge!

All children need to do is read 6 books of their choice over the summer.

This is always quite an exciting time in the Library Mice household, but this year is particularly exciting as Chris Riddell has created all the artwork. Have a look at the trailer below, isn’t it wonderful?

This is such a great initiative, and it is free to join in, yet the results are wonderful:
Research shows that taking part in the Summer Reading Challenge can help children keep up their reading skills during the long summer holiday
Last year 780,000 children took part in the Summer Reading Challenge (you can read more about it here)

So what will we be reading?
They are not 100% sure what they will be reading yet, but those will more than likely be on the list (we will be seeing some of these authors at Bath Kids Lit Fest):

creepyhouse2Master O will be reading:
* Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan
* Ash Mistry and the Savage Fortress by Sarwat Chadda
* Rise of the Wolf by Curtis Jobling
* any comic he can get hold of that he has not already read (this might be tricky, as the choice is limited!)
Miss R will be reading:
* Lilliput by Sam Gayton
* Shine On, Daizy Star by Cathy Cassidy
* A Cat called Penguin by Holly Webb
* Ellie May is totally happy to share her place in the spotlight by Marianne Levy
